Brunsviga MR
The miniature Brunsviga with the split carriage - only the right part with the result register is moveable, the counter register stays in place, but of course the digit which changes on rotating the crank does shift. It also has an automatic direction indicator - all the numeral wheels in the counter register are double numbered in red and white, and the shroud is moveable, so that when a counterclockwise turn is started, the shroud shifts up, the numbers shown are red to indicate a negative turn, but the number shown simply counts up from one. Useful, that! Another interesting tidbit is that due to the fixed and moveable register, the machine needs two overflow bells - one is on the moveable carriage, the other (which is missing here) is on the back of the machine. The paint used on these machiens is notoriously bad. When you find them today, the paint is either in bad condition, mostly gone, or the machien has been repainted. This one is original, but looks rather bad ...
